CT 105 – Romeo

Romeo was enslaved by Christopher Leffingwell. In 1777,  Romeo served alongside Colonel Leffingwell for 29 days during the evacuation of Long Island. In 1778 Romeo was given manumission. He was forced to sign away 50 days of labor each year to his former owner. This partial release was very common among the enslavers of Norwich.
