CT 51 – Pink Primus

Pink was enslaved by the Morris family. During her enslaved years, her work would likely have included churning butter, cooking, cleaning, and taking care of children. While enslaved, Pink married Stepna Primus in 1791 in the First Congregational Church of East Haven, Connecticut. They had at least one child named Chloe. Pink was emancipated in February 1800. While her date of birth is unknown, she died some time around 1850. When Stepna was emancipated, he bought property from the town of New Haven for $15. After Stepna’s death, Pink sold the land to Samuel Forbes and Isaac Townsend for $55.
