CT 25 – Lyde

Lyde was born in approximately 1755. She was enslaved by Daniel and Jerusha Whiting Skinner on North Main Street. She was enslaved with Dinah, Page, and Jack. She was freed by Daniel Skinner before 1797. There is some evidence that she was baptised at First Church Hartford. She was included in the 1790 census. During her adulthood, there were at least 30 other people enslaved in the West Division of Hartford. We believe she had a son. He died around 1800.
