CT 201 – Old Ti/Titus Kent

Old Ti, aka Titus Kent, was enslaved by the Rev. Ebenezer Gay, the minister at the 1st Congregational Church of Suffield. Old Ti was a sexton in the church. He looked after the meeting house, rang its bell, and dug graves in Suffield’s Old Center Cemetery. He was freed in 1812 at age 25. Old Ti died in 1835.
