CT 1 – Moses

Moses, King of the Slaves & Factotum

Witness Stone Installation Date: November 2, 2017

Location: 31 Park Street, Guilford, Connecticut

Moses was enslaved by the Reverend Amos Fowler, pastor of the First Congregation Church, in the house that was on the site prior to the construction of the Town Hall. Moses is found in many extant documents and was considered “King of the Slaves” by Lyman Beecher.
